Virat Kohli was once again the hero of Team India’s win over Pakistan in international cricket. The veteran, who was under the scanner for his performance in the recent past, struck a hundred in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. His knock led the Men in Blue to a six-wicket win and also booked their place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Despite difficult batting conditions in Dubai, the 36-year-old relied on singles and doubles to keep the scorecard moving. He hit just seven boundaries in his knock and still managed a strike rate of 90.09.
Former Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz, who was in the commentary box, hailed the veteran for his game awareness.
“Young cricketers should learn from Virat Kohli. He takes the first run very fast because if there is a miss-field, he can take a double. He always looks for opportunities. Young batters are lazy and run slowly after hitting a shot to a place where a fielder is stationed.
“This is where a player like Virat makes a difference as the fielders are always under pressure when he is in the middle,” Wahab Riaz said on Star Sports.
On the other hand, Pakistan have been eliminated from the Champions Trophy after New Zealand defeated Bangladesh.
