Faf du Plessis will lead Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (2024). He is expected to take the franchise to their maiden title. The Bangalore-based franchise hasn’t won an IPL title despite being home to Virat Kohli, Ab de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell, Yuvraj Singh, Mitchell Starc, and many others.
Faf is looking forward to another fruitful partnership with Kohli, who has been the most successful batter in the tournament. Virat has been out of action for a long time following the birth of his second kid, Akaay.
The former South Africa captain revealed he is similar to Viat, so they connected instantly after their first meeting. Faf, who is 39, is one of the fittest cricketers around.
“Virta and I are similar in many things. We train hard to remin fit, look after ourselves and eat well to maintain our performances. I thinks that’s why connected easily,” Faf du Plessis said in a Star Sports interview.
Faf lauded Kohli for his longevity in the sport. ‘he is an amazing player and is hit. He trains hard, and I feel you have to be like him if you wnat to play cricket for a long time. The young generation should follow him. There are players who are very talented but only few can survive for a long duration. Fitness plays and important role,’ Faf added.
Royal Challengers Bangalore were sixth in the last season, and the team will look forward to going further in the league.
