The BCCI will soon announce the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. While most of the top-order spots are almost confirmed, there is no clarity on all-rounders. Hardik Pandya, who is considered one of the best, is out of form for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. He has failed with the bat and ball. Pandya hasn’t bowled regularly and has leaked runs in limited chances.
On the other hand, Shivam Dube has been magnificent with the bat for Chennai Super Kings, but he hasn’t bowled due to Impact Player Rule. The management has prefered a specialist fast bowler in Dube’s place.
He is Chennai’s highest run-getter, with 245 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 157.05.
Speaking on Cricbuzz, Adam Gilchrist said Dube should be in the Indian squad for the global tournament.
“Shivam Dube has to be there. He is hitting the ball well and is playing spinners and pacers with ease,” he said.
“The selectors should tell him to bowl in the nets. I know it is not a match practice but who knows this might help him in bowling in the upcoming games. But whatever is the case, Dube can’t be ignored for the T20 World Cup,” he added.
Apart from Gilchrist, other players have also spoken in favour of Dube, considering his form in the last one year.
