Gautam Gambhir is a tough character and he doesn’t allow anyone to ridicule the Indian team. The head coach gave a befitting reply to Australia head coach Andrew McDonald, who had accused the visitors of intimidating Sam Konstas at the end of Day 1. The 19-year-old cricketer tried to provoke Jasprit Bumrah after the latter was unhappy with Usman Khawaja’s time wasting tactics.
Bumrah was furious and told the young batter to mind his own business. Tte conversation became heated when Konstas said something to the stand-in captain.
Bumrah had the last laugh as he got rid of Khawaja and all the Indian players went after Konstas, who was stunned and shocked. Australia head coach Andrew McDonald didn’t like the behaviour of the visitors and accused them of intimidating the Aussie opener.
Gambhir was asked about McDonald’s statement after the conclusion of the Test series.
“It is a tough sport, played by tough men. You can’t be that soft. I don’t think that there was anything intimidating about it. You have no right to be taking to Jasprit Bumrah when Usman Khawaja was taking time. You have no right and no buisness to be involved with Jasprit Bumrah. That was the job of the umpire and probably the guy who was batting at the other end,” he said.
