Yashasvi Jaiswal broke several records during the ongoing Test match against England in Dharamshala. The southpaw is the second Indian batter after Sunil Gavaskar to accumulate over 700 runs in a single series.
He became the fastest Indian to reach 1,000 runs in Test cricket, reaching the landmark in 16 innings. He went past Cheteshwar Pujara, Mayank Agarwal, and Sunil Gavaskar.
At 22 years and 70 days, Jaiswal joined the list of the young Indian batters to reach 1,000 Test runs, a list that has the name of Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev.
Jaiswal’s batting average at the time of completing 1,000 Test runs was 71.43, equalling Cheteshwar Pujara with only Vinod Kambli (83.33) ahead.
He has hit 26 sixes in 9 innings in the ongoing five-match Test series against England. Jaiswal now holds the record of most sixes by an Indian batter in a series, surpassing the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma.a
Former Australia player Don Bradman scored 1000 runs in seven Test matches and is the fastest. Yashasvi has joined Herbert Sutcliffe, Everton Weekes, and George Headley as the second-fastest batters to reach 1000 runs.
Jaiswal broke Virat Kohli’s record by scoring one run in the first innings of the ongoing Test, becoming the batter with the most runs in the India-England Test series.
