Rohit Sharma has been clueless as a captain since he landed in Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The players are looking down and out under his leadership, with the home team dominating the proceedings. The revival of Australia started from the second Test and the hosts are looking strong in the fourth Test at the MCG. Former player Ravi Shastri is miffed with Sharma’s captaincy and slammed him for his strange decisions.
“India have run out of ideas with bowlers showing no urgency in picking up wickets. Smith was allowed to dictate terms, and he batted superbly, showing his class once again,” Ravi Shastri told Mayanti Langer.
He was surprised to see the use of spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar by Rohit.
“India is playing two spinners, but they haven’t been using them wisely. Why are you playing two spinners when you don’t trust them? Washington Sundar was not given an over for almost two sessions on Day 1. There was a difference of 40 overs between one and the second spell of Ravindra Jadeja,” he added.
India went in with a batting-heavy side for the Boxing Day Test and left out Shubman Gill to add Sundar to the playing XI.
