Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket on May 12, bringing an end to a 14-year career in the longest format of the game. He made revealed the news before India’s five-match Test series against England, scheduled to start on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds.
His decision came after Rohit Sharma retired from red-ball cricket. Both players, now retired from T20Is and Test format, will focus solely on the fifty-over format, with the 2027 World Cup in mind. Fans are already looking forward to the ODI series.
The Indian men’s cricket team is scheduled to tour Bangladesh in August, where they will compete in three ODIs and as many T20Is. India are not expected to proceed with the tour due to unrest in the neighbouring country.
India are scheduled to visit Australia in October for the 50-over series. The visitors will compete in three One-Day Internationals and five T20 Internationals and there is a possibility of Virat and Rohit representing the Men in Blue.
They were found wanting in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and after failing in the Ranji Trophy matches, they decided to bid adieu before India’s tour of England.
