“Well done New India”: Sanjay Manjrekar coins new style of praise for Rohit Sharma’s team after Test series win over England
Former India player Sanjay Manjrekar has coined a new way of praise for the Rohit Sharma-led team after their Test series win over England. India defeated the visitors by 5 wickets in the fourth Test in Ranchi to take a lead of 3-1 with just one game left.
The victory was set up by young players who batted and bowled fearlessly to win the game for their side. Dhruv Jurel got his POTM award for playing two exceptional innings on a difficult pitch. Akash Deep, who was on his debut, took three wickets in the first innings. Yashasvi contributed with the bat, while Shubman Gill struck a much-needed fifty in the second innings.
Apart from these players, senior pros Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma, and Kuldeep Yadav perfectly played their roles. Manjrekar was pleased with the performance of the seniors and new entrants.

The win was special, considering Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami weren’t in the squad. With the team tottering at 171/7 while replying to England’s 353 in the first innings, Dhruv and Kuldeep played mature innings. The wicket-keeper accumulated 90, while Kuldeep made a watchful 28 to take the score to 307.
Ashwin then joined the party as his fifer restricted England to 145 in the second innings. Chasing 192 runs to win the Test and the series, India was suddenly put under pressure on day 4, with a fall of 5 wickets in a span of a few overs.
Gill and Jurel came together on a score of 120 for 5 and weathered the storm smartly. They relied on singles and doubles, occasionally hitting a four or a six to keep the scoreboard moving. Gill’s 52 and Jurel’s 39 completed the third consecutive victory for the team.
