Shaheen Afridi dismissed Babar Azam during the Champions One-Day Cup game on Friday, September 13. Shaheen is the captain of the Lions and he was up against Babar’s Stallions in the second contest of the tournament at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.
The Stallions won the toss and opted to bat first. Shan Masood and Yasir Khan added 35 runs for the opening wicket. Yasir scored 13 while Pakistan’s Test captain Masood accumulated 42 runs off 43 deliveries. Babar Azam and Tayyab Tahir were going strong, adding 114 runs before Shaheen returned to get rid of Babar.
Shaheen bowled a short ball and Babar tried to target the deep square leg boundary. However, the ball went straight to Faisal Akram, who completed a regulation catch. Shaheen celebrated in his trademark style. Babar Azam accumulated 76 runs off 79 balls.
Shaheen registered figures of 2-63 in 10 overs as Stallions posted 336. Tayyab managed 74 off 72. Mohammad Haris and Hussain Talat smashed fifties for their team.

Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi have been struggling to perform in international cricket. They were below-par in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the recently concluded two-Test series against Bangladesh.
