Former cricketing legends Virender Sehwag and Shoaib Akhtar, part of the ILT20 commentary team in Dubai, recently engaged in a light-hearted banter over a distinctive aspect of Akhtar’s playing days – his long run-up.
Shoaib Akhtar shared a video on ‘X,’ revealing that Sehwag considered his long run-up a major distraction.
“Hamaray pyaray Viru bhai @virendersehwag yeh batatay huay k mera lamba run up ko kitna intezar kerwata tha. And he feels it was a big distraction (“Our dear Viru bhai @virendersehwag, while narrating, reveals how much he used to make my long run-up wait. And he feels it was a big distraction.”), Akhtar humorously captioned the post.
“I used to keep looking downwards, aware that he would spend 10 to 15 seconds completing his run-up,” Sehwag said.
Akhtar then playfully questioned Sehwag if the long run-up distracted him.
“Many thoughts would cross my mind. Would he target my toes or deliver a beamer to my head? He’s bound to hit somewhere,” Sehwag said.
