Former Indian player MSK Prasad has opined on Virat Kohli’s form in the ongoing series against New Zealand. He is confident that Virat will score a lot of runs in Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25.
The right-handed batter has managed 88 runs in four innings of the first two Tests against New Zealand, with the hosts losing the first contest by 8 wickets and the second by 113 runs. The last game will be played in Mumbai from November 1, and then the players will depart for Australia for five red-ball games.
The opening Test will start in Perth on November 22. Prasad mentioned that Virat likes to perform in Australia and is fond of bouncy tracks.
“Virat Kohli is like a duck getting into the water when he plays in Australia. He loves the conditions and must be eagerly waiting for the series,” Prasad said.
‘Virat loves challenges, and sometimes you need a big team to give your best,” he added.
Prasad said that Rohit Sharma and Virat will have to score runs for India in Australia, as other batters will find it tough to dominate the rival bowlers.
“They will have to inspire others with their performances as conditions will be tough for some of the batters. I don’t know whether Virat will play another Test series in Australia, but he would like to end the upcoming series on a high note. I am expecting Virat and Rohit to deal in big scores,” he concluded.
Virat has scored 1,352 runs at an average of 54.08 in 13 Tests in Australia. On the other hand, Rohit has amassed 408 runs at an average of 31.38 in seven Tests.
