Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the talk of the town after his 35-ball hundred for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 match against the Gujarat Titans in Jaipur. He smashed 11 sixes and 7 fours to take RR to an eight-wicket win while chasing 210 runs. Legendary India spinner Harbhajan Singh took his name alongside Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, the two greatest batters India produced. At 14, Vaibhav is the youngest batter to hit a century in the history of the T20 format.
He broke Yusuf Pathan’s record of the fastest ton by an Indian batter in the Indian Premier League. Pathan reached the three-figure mark in 37 balls against the Mumbai Indians in 2010. The all-rounder was a part of the Rajasthan team, but his franchise lost the game.
Vaibhav went hard against Rashid Khan, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammed Siraj, the three most experienced bowlers. The southpaw, who was bought for INR 1.10 crore, batted without fear and hit shots to all parts of the ground. The young batter had already played a handful of matches for Bihar in domestic cricket and showed his talent when he scored a hundred against Australia’s U-19 team while representing India’s U-19 team.
“I am not making any comparison. He will be on Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli’s path if he works hard. Sachin was 16 when he played his first match in international cricket, but Vaibhav is just 14. I am stunned by the way he dominated the GT bowlers,” Harbhajan Singh said.
“If he stays focused and works hard, he will become a superstar and will earn big bucks,” he added.
