The Pakistan Cricket Board wanted to host the remaining matches of the PSL in the UAE but their request will be rejected due to the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan. A source close to the Emirates Cricket Board has revealed that the top brass is going to say no to the PCB despite the cricket body already announcing Dubai as the venue for the remaining matches of PSL 2025.
The source highlighted the security concern due to the ongoing tension between Pakistan and India. ECB doesn’t want to give the impression that it is siding with Pakistan.
“The Emirates Cricket Board enjoys good relationship with the Board of Control for Cricket in India. It hosted India’s edition of the ICC T20 World Cup in 2021 and also the Men in Blue’s matches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025,” the source added.
Dubai is also the headquarter of the International Cricket Council, which is headed by Jay Shah.
“The UAE is home to South Asian population. Hosting PSL could create tension among the communities,” the source mentioned.
The PCB had said that they are shifting the remaining eight matches of PSL to the UAE.
