If you’re a pub lover and always on the hunt for a good pub to try – this one takes a real adventure to get to.

The Puffer Bar, Easdale Island, Scotland is the most remote pub in the UK, it’s only accessible by ferry and is 115 miles away from the closest city (Glasgow).

Pubs are a huge part of British culture with many Brits having a ‘favourite local’ and choosing pubs as the perfect place to spend quality time with friends and family.

Hospitality payment experts at Dojo have ranked the most remote pubs in the UK according to how to access them and how far away the pub is from the closest city.

Easdale Island, home to the most remote pub, is the smallest inhabited island, it is located just off Scotland’s west coast. The island has a permanent population of around 60 people, with many tourists visiting to try the pub and explore the small island.

It is car-free and there is access to the Island by vehicle at all, so those looking to visit have to take the small ferry, which is able to carry 10 passengers.

The ferry takes approximately five minutes and runs every day, and even until 11 pm on Fridays and Sundays.

One visitor on Tripadvisor said: “This is an absolute gem on the island with lovely staff and fresh homemade food – I would recommend and go back. They could have easily charged high prices due to being the only cafe around but they don’t and prices are reasonable.

“The staff are lovely and the chef came out and asked us if all was okay. I had a venison salamis toastie with a homemade minestrone soup side. It was cosy and clean inside and very welcoming, they had yummy homemade cakes too. They even make their own bread for the whole menu.”

The second most remote pub is The Ship Inn on Holy Island which is 71 miles away from Edinburgh and again can only be reached by ferry.

Other top contenders are Ship Inn on Piel Island, Barrow-in-Furness which is 49 miles away from Lancaster. The Turf Hotel in Exminster which is five miles away from Exeter and Beese’s Riverside Bar which is 4.6 miles away from Bristol.

Beese’s Riverside Bar is located on the river and those wanting to visit can book a local ferry ride to and from Beese’s for as little as 50p.

The ferry leaves from Bristol and drops visitors off at Beese’s Riverside Bar. The bar is just five miles out from Bristol city centre so is easily accessible for those wanting to visit.
