Yashasvi Jaiswal was guilty of dropping three catches in Australia’s second innings of the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne and Pat Cummins were the beneficiaries of Jaiswal”s poor fielding efforts, which helped the hosts to posts a challenging total on the board.
When it seemed India had bowled out Australia on the fourth ball of the last over of the day, Jasprit Bumrah overstepped and the umpire rightly declared it a no-ball.
Australia were 228/9 and their overall lead has touched the 333-run mark. If the visitors had managed to grab chances and avoid lapses, the Pat Cummins-led team would have been restricted to a below-par score.
Former India player Ravi Shastri was disappointed with India. “Disappointed. Even players would be feeling the same. Drop catches can cost a game as it allowed Australia to add runs,” Ravi Shastri said.
He also opined on Team India’s winning chances. “Australia are ahead but India have a chance to draw the game if they can’t win it. If India maange to keep the scoreline 1-1, Australia would be under pressure heading into the fifth Test,” he added.
