Tilak Varma was brilliant in the second T20I against England and played the best knock of his career to lead India to a two-wicket win in a tense match in Chennai. Despite sharing important partnerships with Washington Sundar and Arshdeep Singh, he almost ran out of partners before Ravi Bishnoi joined hands with him. The two guided the Men in Blue to an emphatic victory.
Tilak was unbeaten on 72 runs off 55 balls, laced with 5 sixes and 4 fours. On the other hand, Bishnoi remained unbeaten on 9 runs off 5 balls.
Harsha Bhogle heaped praise on the southpaw. “This finish would make MS Dhoni proud. Tilak played according to the situation. When there was a need to attack, he went for the shots, but in the last phase of the game, he realized that his stay was important for the team, and he batted accordingly. He even refused to take singles,” he said on Star Sports.
Harsha also highlighted Tilak’s temperament. “He handled the situation well and showed terrific temperament. Rohit Sharma once said that he would be an all-format player, and I think he was right,” he added.
Ravi Shastri was also impressed with Tilak. “H showed nerves of steel in Chennai, and it was a very mature performance from the young batter,” he said.
Tilak was named the Player of the Match for his massive contribution to the team’s success.
