India are 2-1 ahead in the four-match T20I series against South Africa. Sanju Samson scored a hundred in the series opener in Durban while Tilak Varma amassed a ton in the third contest. Abhishek Sharma was also impressive, scoring a fifty in Team India’s win by 11 runs.
Former India National Cricket Team player Mohammad Kaif hailed Samson, Tilak and Abhishek for carrying Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s legacy forward in T20Is. The two legends retired from the shortest format after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States of America. Virat and Rohit wanted young players to take the team to another level in T20Is.
Kaif feels Kohli and Sharma must be satisfied to see the batting display of the three cricketers.
“Watching Tilak Verma, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson score runs in South Africa’s tough batting conditions must be pleasing for Virat and Rohit. When it comes to T20, they have left Indian cricket in safe hands,” Mohammad Kaif wrote.
Meanwhile, Samson has been inconsistent for the Men in Blue. After his hundred, he has registered two consecutive ducks against the Proteas. Abhishek is also battling for form as he was ordinary in the first two games before smashing a fifty.
