Greece boasts plenty of stunning islands for travellers across the world to jet over to and enjoy a sun-filled holiday. It is no wonder that the stunning country is one of the most visited destinations in the world and certainly loved by UK holidaymakers. However, within the abundance of holiday spots, Greece offers many hidden gems, including an island perched in the Northeast Aegean Sea. Chios, which is labelled as a “best kept secret” by thebouqtiquevibe.com, is Greece’s fifth largest island and the tenth largest in the Mediterranean Sea; it also sits close to Turkey, being separated from it by the Chios Strait.

The vibrant island is a treasure waiting to be explored. Chios is a great holiday destination for sun-seeking travellers, history lovers, and those who like to be away from the crowds. Kampos, a residential complex, is described by Chios’s tourism board as “one of the most impressive areas” of the island. The area is renowned for its fragrant citrus orchards and old mansions.

It also features beautiful architecture dating back to the Byzantine era. As they explore the region, visitors will find extraordinarily decorated courtyards, large mansions, tree-lined alleys, and lush gardens with a range of flowers.

The most important medieval monument in Chios is the UNSECO World Heritage Site, Nea Moni, a monastery complex from the 11th century.
