Team India has landed in Australia for the five-match Test series. The visitors will have to beat the Pat Cummins-led team 4-0 to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship in 2025. However, it would be a challenging task. India National Cricket Team lost 0+3 against New Zealand at home, their first-ever whitewash comprising three games. The opening match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 is scheduled for Friday, November 22, at the Optus Stadium.
India were supposed to play India A in an intra-squad match, but the contest was called off. The visitors are now working hard in the practice session.
The team’s practice sessions have been kept secret, and strict rules are in place. No public viewing will be allowed, and the site will be put under lockdown. The stadium employees have been told not to use their mobile phones during Team India’s net sessions. According to the report, the players will be put under match simulation.
India will be without Rohit Sharma, who has stayed back in India for personal reasons. No information is available on his return, and head coach Gautam Gambhir revealed that BCCI would reveal the news about Rohit before the start of the opening match.
Jasprit Bumrah will lead the Men in Blue in Rohit’s absence.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal were seen batting in the nets on November 12. The left-handed batters will play critical roles for the sub-continent nation.
