Spain is one of the UK’s top holiday destinations but many Brits head straight for a city break in Barcelona or a beach holiday in Benidorm.

However, some of the country’s leading destinations have become a little overcrowded in recent years. In Barcelona, locals have complained that tourists are ruining the city.

But that doesn’t mean Spain doesn’t have some lovely under the radar destinations. The expert team at Home2Go have shared some of the country’s lesser-known hotspots.

Llanes, on Spain’s northern coastline, was barely searched by British tourists using the home sharing platform. The quiet but beautiful destination was much more popular with Spanish tourists.

A traditional fishing village, Llanes’ beaches are a little more rugged than those in Spain’s southern regions but they’re incredibly beautiful.

‌Llanes’ old town is a historic and artistic heritage site while tourists will have easy access to the region’s beaches.

Bufones de Pria is the town’s top-rated beach. It’s a particularly special spot as it’s the site of an unusual natural phenomenon. The beach’s limestone cliffs are littered with holes which spout seawater when the water is at high tide.

‘Cassius8ent’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Absolutely incredible. Such a rare sight. It was spectacular to see. Worth a visit.”

‘Wild Mountain Retreat’ wrote: “Water was calm and a gorgeous turquoise colour. Gorgeous weather.”

Another of the town’s top beaches is the less than appealing named Playa de Poo. There’s nothing pooey about this beach though.

The family-friendly shore is known for its pretty sand and shallow waters, perfect for swimming and splashing.
