Shubman Gill was taken aback by the behavior of the surface at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Gujarat Titans’ match against the home franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The fans and cricket experts were hoping to see a high-scoring game, but the pitch helped the seamers, with GT restricting the RCB to 169/8 in 20 overs. Mohammed Siraj took three wickets for his new franchise.
Although Gujarat won the game by 8 wickets, it took them 17.5 overs to complete the chase. Stroke-making was not easy in the second innings as well.
“I was happy to restrict the RCB to 169 runs. Wickets play differently every time we come here. Sometimes, it is good to score 250 runs, and sometimes, it seems and help the pacers. We wanted to take early wickets to contain them and this is what our bowlers did. It was a clinical performance from the batters,” Shubman Gill said on Star Sports.
With their second win of the season, GT have reached the fourth spot in the points table. Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the top three franchises in the ongoing season.
Jos Buttler (73* off 39 balls) and Sai Sudharsan (49 off 36 balls) were the main contributors for the Titans.
