Sarfaraz Khan should emulate Yashasvi Jaiswal’s fearless batting style to secure his place in the Indian cricket team, says Mohammad Kaif

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has advised Sarfaraz Khan to follow the example of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has made a name for himself in the Indian cricket team. Kaif believes that Sarfaraz should emulate Jaiswal’s approach to the game, which has seen him secure his place in the Test team through consistent performances.

Sarfaraz Khan, a right-handed batsman, made his Test debut for India in the third Test against England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. He scored 62 runs, which was the second-fastest fifty by an Indian on debut. Despite his impressive debut which ended in a disastrous run-out, Kaif believes that Sarfaraz should continue to learn from Jaiswal, who has demonstrated a fearless and consistent batting style.

When Kaif was asked by the reporters about Sarfaraz’s place in the Indian side after the return of senior, Kaif said that he should take the example of Yashasvi Jaiswal and just score runs.

“Sarfaraz Khan must look up to Yashasvi Jaiswal as his role model now. Jaiswal recently made his debut. Once you make it to the team, ignore the distractions and concentrate on scoring runs. If he wants to secure his place, he should emulate Jaiswal by achieving milestones like a double century or a century,” Kaif said.

Kaif further said that since it’s Sarfaraz’s debut, there won’t be much pressure on him to score big and he must capitalize on that. Jaiswal scored 171 against West Indies in his very first Test match.

“When you first play for the national team, there’s no pressure to score high. This is a significant advantage. I suggest seizing the opportunity, achieving a double century, focusing on scoring big, and not stressing about your spot in the squad. Just keep consistently scoring,” he added.
