Sanju Samson blamed bowlers for Rajasthan Royals’ defeat against Gujarat Titans as he felt his franchise gave 15-20 runs extra. Former India player Virender Sehwag was not satisfied with the reason and highlighted the real concern. GT posted 217/7 while batting first and dismissed RR for 159 in 19.2 overs. Samson (41), Shimron Hetmyer (52), and Riyan Parag (26) were the main contributors with the bat. In the bowling department, Rajasthan bowlers conceded 18 runs, including 17 wides.
“We gave 15-20 runs extra. They batted well. Whenever we wanted to carry forward the momentum, we lost wickets. Hety (Shimron Hetmyer) and I thought that it was a chaseable total as the wicket was good to bat. My wicket didn’t allow us,” he said.
‘We planned something else, and the bowlers executed something else on the field. We need to go back and work on our shortcomings. We want to win matches while chasing as defended total in not going to happen in every game,” he added.
Virender Sehwag didn’t like the blame game being played around bowlers. “Batting is the main reason and not bowling. You need one batter from the top three to play a long innings. Samson and Hetmyer batted well but were dismissed. Samson said that 20 runs were extra, but if that was the chase, they should have reached 200 runs while chasing. They couldn’t even touch that mark,” Sehwag said.
