Rajasthan Royals (RR) haven’t been impressive in the Indian Premier League 2025. The 2008 champions lost by two runs against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Riyan Parag was Rajasthan’s captain in the recent match as regular skipper Sanju Samson suffered a rib injury in the previous contest against the Delhi Capitals. Jaideep Bihani, the convenor of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee, has alleged that the game between RR and LSG was fixed.
Bihani, a BJP MLA from Sri Ganganagar, alleged that even a kid would conclude the match was not played fairly. He also blasted the franchise for removing the RCA from its management decisions.
“The state government in Rajasthan appointed the ad hoc committee, and its tenure has been extended for the fifth time. However, as soon as the IPL arrived, the Zila Parishad (district council) took over. Initially, the BCCI had only sent a letter to the RCA, not the Zila Parishad, the excuse given by them and RR that we don’t have an MOU from Sawai Mansingh Stadium. If MOU is not there, so what? Aren’t you paying Zila Parishad for every match?” he stated in an interview with News18 Rajasthan.
RR were well placed at 156/2 in the run chase, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and stand-in captain Riyan Parag at the crease. They lost Jaiswal and Parag to Avesh Khan when they needed 25 runs from 18 balls.Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, and Shubham Dubey were unable to secure the nine runs in the last over.
RR are presently eighth in the points table, having lost six of their first eight matches. Their next game is against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 24 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, followed by a home match against Gujarat Titans on April 28.
