Michael Vaughan said that 2024 could be the year Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) could do an IPL and Women’s Premier League (WPL) double after the women’s team’s win over Delhi Capitals in the final of WPL 2024.
RCB women defeated DC women by 8 wickets at the Arun Jaitley stadium to win their maiden WPL crown.
Vaughan took X to congratulate the winning team and made a bold prediction.
“Fantastic tournament .. Well deserved win for @RCBTweets !! Now can the Men do the double !!! This could be the year,” Vaughan on X.
Sophie Molineux broke the Capitals’ back by taking three crucial wickets in one over. The Delhi Capitals were bowled out for 113 in 18.3 overs. RCB’s chase was anchored by captain Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine, who added 49 runs for the opening wicket.
Ellyse Perry provided the finishing touches as she remained unbeaten on 35. The men’s team will start their IPL 2024 campaign against Chennai Super Kings on March 22 at the iconic Chepauk stadium.
The RCBs men’s team is gearing up to win their maiden IPL title since the tournament’s inception in 2008. Virat Kohli has returned from London and reached Bangalore to start preparation for the upcoming season.
