Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers held their nerves in a tense finish against Mumbai Indians in the 18th season of the tournament. Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya were running away with the game, with sensational hitting against Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yash Dayal, and Krunal Pandya. However, the bowlers didn’t stop trying and finally managed to lead RCB to a win by 12 runs while defending 221 runs.
Hazlewood dismissed Tilak, who scored 56 runs off 29 balls. He took two wickets in the contest. Bhuvneshwar got rid of Hardik, who amassed 42 runs off 15 balls. MI needed 19 runs off the last 6 balls, but Krunal Pandya conceded 6 runs and claimed three scalps, finishing the match with 4 dismissals. Yash picked up two wickets.
Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar was adjudged the Player of the Match for scoring 64 runs off 32 balls. He hit 5 fours and 4 sixes, with RCB posting 221/5. He dedicated his award to the bowlers. “It was an amazing match but was hard for the bowlers. They deserve the Player of the Match award. The message was to attack the stumps. Krunal Pandya bowled the best over of the match,” he said.
“The conditions were not easy for the bowlers, but they were spot on. We wanted to take the game deep to give the last over to Krunal Pandya. The wicket was good for batting as the ball was coming nicely on the bat. Suyash is our main and wicket-taking spinner,” he added.
