Ravindra Jadeja was run-out in the second innings of the first Test and that proved costly for the Indian team against England. Ben Stokes found the all-rounder short and the host nation lost the match by 28 runs. Jadeja injured his hamstring while trying to a complete a risky run.
With the second Test set to start from February 2 in Vishakapatnam, he is doubtful for the game, according to PTI.
The southpaw scored 87 runs in India’s first innings and also took 5 wickets across both innings. He was seen holding his hamstring after dismissal.
Rahul Dravid didn’t sound confident when asked about Jadeja in the post-match presentation ceremony.
“I had no word with the physio after the match. I will speak to him once I go back from here,” Rahul Dravid said.
The recovery period of hamstring injuries is longer. He will have to take atleast one week rest if it is a normal strain. The second game will start in 4 days. It is not clear whether he will travel with the team or head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Jadeja missed one of the Test matches in South Africa due to back spasms.
