India are playing against Australia in the third Test of the five-match series at the Gabba in Brisbane. Jadeja was magnificent with the bat as he scored 77 runs in the team’s first innings and helped the visitors avoid follow-on. The star all-rounder also entered the record books. He broke a 56-year-old record in Brisbane.
Ravindra Jadeja batted at the No. 7 spot and faced 123 balls. He is now the highest individual score of the India National Cricket Team at no.7 at the iconic stadium. He broke the record of Chandu Borde, who amassed 63 at no.7 in 1968. Borde added 100 runs with centurion ML Jaisimha.
In five innings with the bat in Australia, Ravindra Jadeja has an average of 56.75. He tops the list of the Indian batters with the highest batting average who have faced 400-plus balls Down Under. He surpassed legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar (53.20) and his teammates Virat Kohli (50.96), Cheteshwar Pujara (47.28), and Rohit Sharma (26.68).
Australia posted 445 in the first innings, with Travis Head and Steve Smith scoring hundreds. For India, Jasprit Bumrah picked up 6 wickets. The Indian batting unit suffered another collapse before KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja rescued the team. Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah took the score to 252/9 at the end of Day 4.
