R Ashwin dedicates 500th test wicket to father
Ravichandran Ashwin has dedicated the 500th Test wicket to his father and said that he has been through a lot. Zak Crawley was R Ashwin’s 500th wicket when he was undone by the legendary spinner in the 14th over.
“I have been a part of long journey. I would like to dedicate the 500th Test wicket to my father, who has had heart attacks everytime I played the game. His health has gone for a toss because of watching my games on TV. He has been my biggest supporter. 500 Test wickets done and dusted,” R Ashwin said after the end of day’s play.
Anil Kumble with 619 wickets is leading the list of Indian bowlers with most wickets in Test cricket.

Replying to India’s first innings total of 445, England dominated Indian bowlers, thanks to Ben Duckett’s sensational century which led the total to 207/2 at stumps.
Ashwin praised England batters for showing the intent against the Indian bowlers.
“England batters are not giving us chances to think. They have shown the intent to counter our plans. We hope one of their big shots doesn’t connect and lands safely in the hands of a fielder. This pitch is likely to get really tough for batters on Day 5 and we must hang in there. The game is in the balance. If something goes in our way tomorrow, and we will find ways to get back into the game. They are trying to put us under pressure and we must respond,” Ravichandran Ashwin said on JioCinema.
Ashwin was introduced into the attack by Rohit Sharma in the 12th over. Ashwin struck quickly to complete his 500 wickets in Test cricket. He is the second quickest to reach the milestone, with Muthiah Muralitharan leading the list. Muttiah reached the 400-wicket mark in 87 matches while Ashwin completed the task in 98 contest. He has taken 351 wickets at an average of 21.26 on home soil. His overseas tally stands at 149 wickets at an average of 30.40.
