Pretty Santorini village with hardly any tourists compared to rest of island | Travel News | Travel

This beautiful little Greek village is on the iconic island of Santorini – but is far less touristy than other, more well-known parts. 

Oia is renowned for its world-famous sunsets, while Thira is known for its bustling streets.

But if you’re looking for something more tranquil but equally charming, travel experts recommend Imerovigli as the place to be. 

Santorini is a small island, measuring only 10 miles in length and up to three miles in width but despite its size, it welcomes nearly two million tourists each year, while its population sits at around 16,000.

During peak season, the island becomes a hotspot for cruise ships, which unload hundreds of visitors into Thira – Santorini’s main village.

The sunsets from Imerovigli are breathtaking, without the overwhelming crowds you’ll encounter in Thira or Oia.

Some of the island’s most stunning hotels are also located here, according to travel blog Yvonne’s Travel. 

This makes Imerovigli an ideal place to relax and soak in Santorini’s beauty.

For those who enjoy walking, it is also a perfect starting point for a hike to Skaros Rock – one of the island’s famous landmarks.

Imerovigli also boasts some of the best views of the caldera – which is the remains of a volcanic eruption. 

It’s important to note that Santorini isn’t known for its beaches.

The coastline is rocky, the beaches are small and tricky to access, and they tend to get overcrowded during the busy season. For that reason, having access to a pool at your hotel is a must.

Summers can be scorching, with temperatures climbing up to 31°C.
