Virat Kohli once again showed why he is the greatest ODI batter in the history of the format. The veteran kept his best performance for the most important match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. His unbeaten 100 runs led India to a six-wicket win over Pakistan in the tournament. He batted with full authority and didn’t think twice before charging down the track against the fast bowler.
He was dominant against Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf. The veteran was named the Player of the Match for the fifth time against Pakistan in ICC tournaments.
He leads the list and is followed by Sachin Tendulkar, who won the award thrice. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Michael Hussey, and David Warner were adjudged as the best players on two occasions each.
Aakash Chopra was mighty pleased with Kohli’s batting and hailed him for his match-winning effort.
“Pakistan wants Virat Kohli on loan. He was superb, and the crowd went berserk in Dubai. You could hardly listen to anything. The atmosphere was electrifying. He scored a magnificent hundred. The champion batter kept his ego aside and went easy against the spinners. He attacked the pacers,” he said.
Virat has smashed 51 hundreds in one-day internationals. Overall, the legendary cricketer has recorded 82 tons across formats in international cricket.
