Shreyas Iyer had the worst game of KKR’s captaincy career against Chennai Super Kings. He didn’t do much with the bat, and his bowling changes failed to give him wickets while defending 135 runs in Chennai. However, the biggest shocker came in the form of his two DRS calls. The batters looked not out from the naked eye, but the skipper still decided to go upstairs at the bowlers’ request.
Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu was miffed with his DRS call against Shivam Dube. The ball clearly punched outside the leg stump, but Shreyas took a chance.
Varun Chakravarthy was bowling the 16th over of the CSK innings when he hit Shivam on the pad on the 5th delivery of the over. He soon appealed to the umpire, who said no. Varun looked towards Iyer, who signaled for DRS.
When the third umpire ruled in favor of the batter, Sidhu lost his cool in the commentatory box.
“It was never out. The ball had pitched outside the leg stump but still Iyer decided to take a DRS. It is one of the worst DRS calls in the history of the Indian Premier League. It would stand among the top shocking calls when the list of worst DRS appeals is taken out in the future,” he said.
