Not Virat or Rohit! KL Rahul names 40-year-old cricketer as his inspiration
New Delhi: India’s star player KL Rahul, who has been out of the Indian side since the second Test against England because of injury, spoke about his inspiration on the cricketing field. The 29-year-old named South African legend AB de Villiers as his inspiration both on and off the field.
Speaking to Star Sports, Rahul remarked, “I like my father, but I think on a cricket field, I have been inspired by AB de Villiers.”
KL and ABD have shared the dressing room for RCB when Rahul played for the franchise during 2013 and 2015.
Notably, KL suffered a quadricep injury after the first Test following which he missed the nextnext three games. In the latest events, KL is likely to be ruled out of the upcoming fifth and last match as he has travelled to UK to get a clear picture of his quadricep injury.
Last year during IPL 2023, Rahul suffered a similar injury, when he tore his muscle while chasing a ball in the match against RCB. The injury forced Rahul to miss majority of the tours following IPL 2023 and the keeper-batter would not want the same to occur during IPL 2024 as T20 World Cup 2024 starts right after IPL. This time Werst Indies and USa will host the prestigious T20 event starting on June 2.
