Mayank Yadav was named the Player of the Match for the second time in IPL 2024. After taking three wickets against Punjab Kings, he added another three scalps in the team’s third match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He bowled four overs and conceded 13 runs in his second game of the season.
Glenn Maxwell, who has played his cricket on Australia’s fast and bouncy tracks, tried to take him on and went for a big hit on the short ball but was caught at mid-on. Yadav’s delivery hurried the Aussie all-rounder, leading to a mistimed shot.
The second wicket was even more special as he beat Cameron Green with pace. Green couldn’t move his feet and was clean bowled on a peach of delivery by the 21-year-old pacer.
Rajat Patidar, who was looking good, was undone by pace as he failed to execute the stroke on the shot ball delivered by Mayank.
However, the new pace sensation refused to get carried away. “My 6 wickets in two matches are not important as winning games for the franchise comes on top of my list. I am happy that I contributed in the team’s twin victories against Punjab Kings and RCB,” he told Murali Kartik.
When Kartik asked him about things he is doing to keep himself fit, Mayank said he is taking good care of his body.
“I am taking care of my body. The most important thing is the diet followed by sleep and training. It is must for a fast bowler to invest time in the recovery period. Taking ice bath is helping me to be ready for the next contest,” he added.
The right-arm pacer revealed the wicket he liked the most. “I liked the dismissal of Cameron Green,” he concluded.
