Ambati Rayudu has commented on MS Dhoni’s captaincy in the Indian Premier League 2024. The veteran said Dhoni could also leave the CSK captaincy in some matches, allowing someone else to lead the side.
There is a possibility of Dhoni announcing retirement after the 17th season.
Speaking on the Star Sports ‘Press Room’, Rayudu felt that with the Impact Player Rule in place, Dhoni could take a back seat and promote someone as a skipper in the middle of the season.
Rayudu laballed IPL 2024 as the serason of transition for the five-time champions if Dhoni decides to bid adieu. The former CSK player said that if Dhoni chose to play for a few more seasons, he would continue leading the side.
“Dhoni will take a back seast with the Impact Player Rule to allow someone else to lead the side during the middle of the season. This is going to be a year of transition for CSK. If Dhoni decides to play for a few more seasons, he would captain the side. I want to see him as a skipper.”
Ambati said Dhoni would play all the matches even if he was unfit. The former player highlighted how Dhoni carried on despite a knee injury in the last season.
“If Dhoni is even 10 percent fit, he will all the games. He played the last season with knee injury and gave his best. I don’t think anything can stop him from playing the full season,” he added.
