Suresh Raina, who played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for several seasons in the Indian Premier League (IPL), wants to see MS Dhoni competing in IPL 2025.
There is speculation that Dhoni might quit the league due to injuries. The veteran had said that he would wait for the new retention rules before taking a call on his future.
Mahi has been battling injuries for the past two seasons. Meanwhile, Raina pointed out that Dhoni was impressive with the bat in the 17th season of the cash-rich league.
He reckoned that Dhoni’s presence would help captain Ruturaj Gaikwad as well.
“I want MS Dhoni to play in IPL 2025, considering his impressive display in the previous season. I feel Ruturaj Gaikwad needs guidance for another season, as his captaincy was not up to the mark in several games.
“The loss against RCB saw him struggling as a leader. However, he also showed maturity and did a reasonably good job and batted well as well,” Suresh Raina told Sports Tak.
Dhoni handed over the captain’s armband to Ruturaj Gaikwas before the start of the IPL 2024. The five-time champions failed to make it to the playoffs, finishing fifth in the standings. Dhoni played cameos, amassing 161 runs in 73 balls.
