Mohammed Siraj took a blinder to get rid of the Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on Day 4 of the second Test in Kanpur. After Rohit Sharma’s sensational catch of Litton Das Siraj’s bowling, the pacer followed the style of his captain to grab a mind-blowing catch.
Shakib wanted to hit India National Cricket Team’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for a big hit but failed to connect it from the middle of his bat.
It looked like Siraj had misjudged the catch, but he jumped in the air, his hands going backward, to complete the grab.
Litton tried to break free against Siraj earlier but couldn’t time the ball. Rohit, who was stationed at mid-on, timed his jump to perfection to send the batter back to the pavilion.
Virat Kohli and Siraj were stunned by Rohit’s effort and lauded their skipper.
After two days of no action due to rain and a wet outfield, the players finally got game time in Kanpur. Bad weather also marred the opening day, and the proceedings were called into two sessions. Ashwin and Akash Deep took two wickets each, while Siraj and Bumrah dismissed one batter each.
India are leading the series 1-0 after winning the Chennai Test by 280 runs.
