Mitchell Starc worked with Gautam Gambhir during the Indian Premier League 2024. The Australian fast bowler was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 24.75 crore in the auction, and Gambhir, the team’s mentor, played a big role in his purchase.
Starc didn’t start well but made his performance count in the important games. Gambhir left the franchise to become the head coach of the Indian National Cricket Team.
Gambhir’s biggest challenge will be the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 in Australia. If India perform well in the BGT, they will qualify for the WTC final for the third time.
Starc recently lauded Gautam Gambhir and highlighted the qualities that have made him successful.
“I worked with him at KKR, and he is a fantastic thinker of the game. He is always thinking about how to win the game by scoring runs or taking wickets.
“He doesn’t give importance to individual performances, and the team always comes first for him. Gambhir tells the players if some improvement is needed in techniques and what needs to be done in the field,” Mitchell Starc said.
India will now take on New Zealand in a three-match Test series starting on October 16 in Bengaluru. The hosts defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the previous Test series.
