Mitchell Starc achieved a major milestone even before playing a game for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. He is the second player in the tournament’s history to break the INR 50 crore mark in the auctions after his teammate and captain, Pat Cummins.
He scripted the record after he was bought by DC for INR 11.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has participated in four auctions and played in three IPL seasons.
The left-arm speedster was first added to the team by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for INR 4 crore in 2014. He was with the franchise for two seasons.
He gave his name for the IPL 2018 auction and joined KKR for INR 9.4 crore. However, he got injured before the start of the season and was ruled out.
Starc then kept himself away from the tournament to play international cricket for Australia and decided to enter the bidding process ahead of the 17th season.
He became the most expensive player when Kolkata spent INR 24.75 for his services. He played a key role in the franchise’s title-winning campaign and was named the Player of the Match in the playoff and final against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Rishabh Pant (INR 27 crore) and Shreyas Iyer (INR 26.75 crore) are the two most expensive players now. Pant was bought by Lucknow Super Giants while Iyer joined Punjab Kings.
Starc has amassed INR 50.90 crore in the auctions so far. Pat Cummins tops the list with INR 54.15 crore. Glenn Maxwell has earned INR 49.50 crore.
Former Indian players Yuvraj Singh (48.1 crore) and Dinesh Karthik (44.35 crore) are the next two.
