Dhoni, watching from the pavilion amid fan anticipation, lived up to the hype by hitting a spectacular six off the last ball against Delhi Capitals on Sunday in Vizag.
In a recently released video on the IPL’s social media handles, Hussey made a bold prediction about Dhoni, who had yet to bat in the 2024 IPL season. Hussey stated Dhoni would win the match by hitting a six off the final ball, with the crowd roaring at the venue.
“As the final over begins, I predict MS Dhoni will be at the crease, the crowd roaring, as he launches a six to clinch victory for us.”
Dhoni produced a classic innings at Visakhapatnam’s Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, the same venue where, 19 years prior, he had smashed a memorable 148 against Pakistan.
Although Chennai was well behind the target of 192, Dhoni, with a net run rate in mind, smashed four boundaries and three sixes in his unbeaten 16-ball 37, including a 20-run over against Anrich Nortje.
