The 18th season of the Indian Premier League will start on March 22, with Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens. Legendary Pakistan batter Inzamam-ul-Haq has again urged other nations to boycott the cash-rich league. He says the BCCI doesn’t permit players to compete in different T20 leagues.
Women cricketers are allowed to play worldwide, but men cricketers are barred from being featured in other T20 tournaments.
“Let’s keep the ICC Champions Trophy aside. All the big players participate in the Indian Premier League, but Indian players don’t play in other leagues. All the boards should unite and stop sending their players to the IPL.
“If India is not releasing its players for other tournaments, then other boards should take the same stance,” Inzamam said on a local news channel in Pakistan.
Only retired Indian players are permitted to play in T20 tournaments globally. Dinesh Karthik, who retired from international cricket and the IPL, recently represented Paarl Royals in the SA20 league.
Yuvraj Singh and Irfan Pathan have made their presence felt in GT20 Canada and Lanka Premier League. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Super League will clash with the IPL as it is set to start from April 11.
