Renowned for its gourmet cuisine, Cartmel is quickly becoming a must-visit destination for travellers seeking relaxation and indulgence.
The picturesque village is situated in the serene embrace of the Lake District, but its tranquillity is briefly disrupted once a year for a bustling medieval fair.
The festival has long charmed visitors, as it promises a journey back in time with guided tours of the historical villages, the old priory bell tower and ancient choir stalls.
The square fills with crowds entertained with performances from medieval minstrels and juggling jesters on stilts. A parade of Cartmel Friesian Black Horses also clatters through the village, ridden by armour-clad knights.
