Kuldeep Yadav correctly predicted Spain’s victory in UEFA EURO 2024 final
Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav, a die-hard football fan, was in attendance at the UEFA Euro 2024 final between Spain and England at Berlin’s Olympiastadion. Prior to the match, the bowler accurately predicted the final score of 2-1 in favor of Spain.
Before the match began, the broadcasters interviewed Kuldeep in a brief on-field conversation, during which they asked him to predict the final score and discuss other topics.
“Both teams are in top touch heading into the match. Spain has been terrific and consistent throughout this tournament. If they can replicate the dominant performances they’ve delivered in previous games, I’m confident they’ll overcome England comfortably. However, finals are unpredictable. Nonetheless, I’m supporting Spain, and I believe they’ll triumph 2-1 against England,” stated Kuldeep.
Ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 semi-final against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium, Kuldeep had the opportunity to meet former England footballer David Beckham. An ardent supporter of FC Barcelona, Kuldeep is known to be quite active on social media, regularly sharing his thoughts on the latest football proceedings throughout the season.
The July 14th final featured a cautious first half, with neither Spain nor England able to break the deadlock. Spain’s prospects then took a significant hit when their star defensive midfielder Rodri suffered an injury, forcing him to be substituted at halftime.
Nico Williams scored the opening goal for Spain just minutes after the restart, giving them the lead. Spain then dominated the game, creating multiple chances to double their advantage but failing to convert. Meanwhile, England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made crucial saves, denying two left-footed attempts from Lamine Yamal to keep his team in the match.
In the 73rd minute, substitute Cole Palmer scored a stunning long-range goal to equalize for England. However, Mikel Oyarzabal restored Spain’s lead in the 86th minute with a well-placed close-range finish. A crucial goal-line clearance by Dani Olmo, denying a Declan Rice header, ultimately doomed England’s comeback attempt as they fell short once more.
