Josh Hazlewood ruled out of second Test against India
Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the second Test against India at the Adelaide Oval with a side strain, with the selectors adding two uncapped bowlers to the squad.
Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett have joined the team for the pink-ball Test in Adelaide.
However, Scott Boland is the front-runner to replace Hazlewood in the starting XI. He hasn’t played Test cricket since July 2023.
The loss of Hazlewood is a big blow for the Pat Cummins-led team.
The right-arm seamer was Australia’s best bowler in the first innings of the series opener of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Perth, taking 4-29 as India were dismissed for 150. He conceded just 28 runs and took 1 wicket in 21 overs in the second essay.
In the last Test against India in Adelaide, he took five wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 36.
