Joginder Sharma, the hero of the ICC T20 World Cup final in 2007, met MS Dhoni after 12 years on Friday, August 2. Joginder, who is the DSP of police in Haryana, shared pictures with the former India captain.
Joginder bowled the last over in the final against Pakistan. He defended 12 runs despite Misbah-ul-Haq hitting him for a six off the first delivery.
The Men in Blue won the match by five runs to win the inaugural edition of the global tournament. It was Dhoni’s first big title win as India’s skipper. He also led the sub-continent nation to glory in the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.
“It was nice to meet @mahi7781 after a very long time. The fun of meeting you after almost 12 years was different today,” Joginder Sharma wrote.
Joginder played four T20Is and as many ODIs for India. He was also a part of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Sharma represented Haryana in 77 first-class matches and 80 List-A games. He took 297 and 115 wickets, respectively.
He accumulated 2,804 runs in first-class cricket, including five hundreds. The all-rounder announced his retirement in February 2023.
MS Dhoni bid adieu to international cricket in 2020 but is active in the Indian Premier League. The 43-year-old will take a call on his IPL career after taking retention rules into consideration.
