Jasprit Bumrah again played well for India in Test cricket. The veteran took 11 wickets in the two red-ball games against Bangladesh and finished the assignment as the joint-highest wicket-taker, along with Ravichandran Ashwin.
In the second match, which was marred by rain for more than two days, the hosts scripted a win by 7 wickets despite losing a lot of overs.
Bumrah dismissed six batters in Kanpur and played a key role in his team’s success. His deliveries were unplayable, and the Bangladesh batters looked clueless in front of him.
Former India player Murali Kartik called him a magician. “I would like to call you a magician because of your ability to change matches,” he said.
“These adjectives look good but I don’t go by them. My job is to take wickets, and it is important to read the conditions and the pitches you are bowling on.
“This comes with experience. I have played enough cricket to know what is needed in a particular situation,” Jasprit Bumrah said.
Murali then reminded him of his long break after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
“It is good to get a break. However, it is also important to return to training before the series and plan accordingly,” he added.
