Ishan Kishan named captain, Mohammed Shami makes a return

Narayan Jagadeesan was added to the squad as Pant’s replacement, but he was not included in the Playing XI.
India’s domestic cricket season will start on August 28, with teams competing in the Duleep Trophy. The tournament has returned to a zonal format, and the selectors announced the East Zone team. Ishan Kishan has been appointed as the captain, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi being put on the standby list.
Ishan was not considered for the England tour as the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee selected Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel. They wanted to send Ishan Kishan for the fifth Test in England after Pant’s injury. However, he was dealing with a foot injury and couldn’t travel to England.
Narayan Jagadeesan was added to the squad as Pant’s replacement, but he was not included in the Playing XI.
Vaibhav will be called up if the team needs a replacement player. Mohammed Shami, who was ignored for the England tour, is a part of the East Zone team.
Akash Deep, Riyan Parag, Mukesh Kumar, and Abhimanyu Easwaran are other big names in the team.
East Zone will face North Zone in the knockout fixture from August 28 to 31. All matches will be held in Bengaluru.
