Team India is hogging the limelight worldwide for their shocking batting performance against New Zealand. The hosts were bowled out for 46 in the first innings of the opening Test in Bengaluru. It is lowest total recorded by India in a five-day game at home.
The previous record was scripted against the West Indies in 1987, with India amassing 75 runs.
Five Indian batters registered ducks while the highest individual score was achieved by Rishabh Pant, who accumulated 20 runs.
The likes of Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were removed without making any contributions. Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj were able to put runs on the board. Captain Rohit decided to bat first after winning the toss and completely neglected the weather part. The pitch was under the cover for a couple of days and the first day was washed out.
The second day also witnessed bad weather but Rohit still decided to put the batters in against the Kiwi bowlers.
Meanwhile, Cricket Australia reminded India of their lowest total ever in the Test cricket history. The visiting team was bowled out for 36 in the Adelaide game in 2021. The governing body of Australia cricket posted a clip to make fun of the Rohit Sharma-led team.

Matt Henry was the pick of the bowlers, with five wickets. William O’Rourke dismissed four batters.
