Indian cricketer and former teammate of MS Dhoni announces retirement after 20-year-old career
India cricketer Shahbaz Nadeem has retired from cricket, putting an end to his 20-year-old career. The left-arm spinner said that he wished to play in T20 leagues worldwide.
“I was thinking of taking retirement from a long time. I have decided to retire from all three formats. I always felt that you need motivation to continue playing,” Nadeem told ESPNcricinfo.
“I know that I will not get a chance to play for the Indian team. So it is better that a young player gets a chance in my place. I am planning to playt in diferent T20 leagues across the globe,” he added.
He also made the announcement on social media.
He last played for Jharkhand in a Ranji Trophy match against Rajasthan, where he took 3 wickets and scored 46 runs.
In first-class cricket, List A, and T20 cricket, Nadeem accumulated 542, 175, and 125 wickets, respectively, with 32 five-wicket hauls and 7 10-wicket hauls.
In 2019, he made his Test debut for India against South Africa at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranch.
Nadeem played only 2 Tests for India, taking 8 wickets. He was a part of 72 IPL matches, dismissing 48 batters.
He represented Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Lucknow Super Giants.
