Indian batters score fastest T20 century after going unsold at IPL 2025 mega auction
Urvil Patel hit the fastest century by an Indian batter in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Wednesday, November 27. The contest between Tripura and Gujarat was played at the Emerald Heights International School in Indore.
Urvil amassed 101 runs off 28 balls, laced with 11 sixes and seven fours. Overall, he was unbeaten on 113 runs off 35 deliveries as Gujarat registered an eight-wicket win with 9.4 overs left.
The batter went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction despite keeping his base price at INR 30 lakh. He was with Gujarat Titans in the tournament’s 16th season.
Sahil Chauhan, who plays for Estonia, owns the record for the fastest century in the shortest format of the game. He smashed a hundred off 27 balls against Cyprus in 2024.
Chris Gayle reached the three-digit mark in 30 balls while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against now-defunct Pune Warriors India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 2013.
Rishabh Pant and WJ Lubbe took 32 and 33 balls to complete their hundreds in T20 cricket.
Pant reached his hundred while representing Delhi against Himachal Pradesh during SMAT in 2018.
